Two people were found dead inside a car that caught fire in Cass County.

Sheriff’s deputies were called, just before 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, to the 57000 block of M-51 in Pokagon Township where they say a vehicle became stick in a driveway due to the heavy snowfall.

Investigators say attempts to get the vehicle out were unsuccessful and it is believed that carbon monoxide may have filled the passenger compartment, rendering the two occupants unconscious.

The heat from the overworked engine is believed to have caused the fire.
