North Judson is getting a Tesla police car

The town of North Judson will add a Tesla to its fleet of police cars.

The North Judson Town Council has given Town Marshal Kelly Fisher approval to buy the electric car, reports WKVI.

Fisher previously told the council that she estimates the annual cost of electricity needed for the Tesla to be less than one-fifth of what the town currently spends to fuel one of its existing police vehicles. Fisher also said the Tesla will have lower maintenance costs than a traditional police car.

It will take a few weeks for the Tesla to arrive in Starke County, according to WKVI. The car is expected to cost $50,990.

Your tax dollars at work…better not hope to need the police during a power outage.

According to the media our future is dark and stupid.

They could get two of the Explorer Interceptors for that price, and those will certainly do better in Northern Indiana winters running 8 hour shifts.

Wear, maintenance on the vehicles have been taken down to 1/5th. But due to the 8.5 to 10hr charge time the vehicle spends 1/5th the time on the road compared to it’s gas counterparts.
