A 73-year-old Goshen man was killed after being pinned by a truck outside of a church.

The collision happened around 2:50 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, in the 1300 block of East Lincoln Avenue.

A man was dropping off food at the Goshen Church of God. The victim, Jack Hurd, was helping the driver direct his vehicle.

While the truck was moving in reverse, the driver’s foot left the brake pedal and hit the gas pedal, according to Goshen Police.

The truck then backed up onto the church’s patio and pinned Hurd against the building, police said.

Hurd was pronounced dead at the scene.
