Free COVID tests available through new program

You can now get free home COVID-19 tests from a US government program.

The program began over the weekend, and allows Americans to get home COVID tests at no cost through their private insurance. Tests can be obtained through pharmacies, retailers and online vendors.

The tests are not subject to copays or deductibles. Consumers should reach out to their insurance provider to find out if a claim needs to be submitted.

Only tests bought January 15 or later are eligible, and insurers will pay for up to eight tests per covered individual per month.
