A pedestrian was struck and killed while walking along the Indiana Toll Road in LaGrange County.

State Police troopers were called, late Monday night, Feb. 14, to the 121 mile marker.

While enroute, dispatch received calls about a semi striking a person. Police arrived to find 43-year-old Nathanael W. Stewart, of Angola, lying unresponsive, in the road.

Despite live-saving attempts, Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers have not yet determined why Stewart was walking on the interstate, but they found footprints in the snow that — suggesting he climbed over the fence, walked through a side ditch and on to the roadway.
