A coupon fundraiser that helps local kids is celebrating a huge milestone.

The “You Can Lend A Hand” program, sponsored by Quality Dining, Inc., is kicking off its 40th year raising money for Catholic schools.

Since 1982, students at approximately 45 schools throughout Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan have sold coupons, then used the profits from those sales for scholarships, technology, P.E. equipment, textbooks, playgrounds and field trips.

The coupon sale traditionally lasts throughout the month of February.

In exchange for $1, supporters receive a coupon for a free Croissan’wich or Original Chicken Sandwich at Burger King, or free Chips & Salsa at Chili’s or a free Bruschetta appetizer at Papa Vino’s.

This year’s goal is to sell 80,000 coupons and raise more than $100,000.

Supporters can also earmark donations for a specific school or purchase coupons online at www.YouCanLendaHand.com.
