South Bend man arrested after taking off from traffic stop on State Road 933

A man who took off from a traffic stop on State Road 933, early Tuesday evening, has been arrested.

It was early Tuesday night when a trooper spotted a Chevrolet Cobalt traveling south on State Road 933 with what appeared to be an altered expiration date on a temporary license plate.

The trooper stopped the driver near Cowles Avenue. When the trooper went back to his police car to check the driver’s I-D, the driver ran off.

The trooper soon found the driver walking around the corner from behind a building.

24-year-old Victor Hampron-Givan of South Bend was taken into custody for resisting arrest, giving false identity, operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license and several outstanding warrants.
