A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 8 a.m. until midnight on Thursday, Feb. 17, for the entire 95.3 MNC listening area. A Flood Watch is in effect through 7 p.m. on Thursday  due to the combination of melting snow and rainfall.

Rain will become widespread late tonight. Pockets of moderate to heavy rain are possible. This rain, combined with melting snow, could create flood concerns across Michiana.

Rain continues into early Thursday morning. As temperatures drop from the 30s to the 20s, rain will turn to a wintry mix, then snow by Thursday evening. The northwest portion of Michiana will have the highest snow totals Thursday evening of 9 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Portions of Michiana could see minor ice accumulations from the wintry mix, before snow starts to accumulate. Areas around South Bend can expect 5 to 9 inches of snow, the National Weather Service reported. The system moves out late Thursday evening, however, a few lake effect snow showers could continue into early Friday morning.

Temperatures stay below freezing Friday, so any water leftover from this system gets icy, making a slippery Friday a.m. commute.
