Woman taken to hospital after rollover crash on Marcellus Highway

A Marcellus woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation after an SUV crashed while trying to pass another vehicle.

The collision happened around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, on Marcellus Highway, east of Gards Prairie, in Volinia Township.

The crash occurred when the vehicle, operated by a 25-year-old Marcellus man was traveling eastbound and lost control of his vehicle while passing another driver, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle left the roadway, rolled over and struck a power pole, breaking it away from the ground.

The driver able to get his passengers safely from the vehicle.

The 23-year-old Marcellus woman was taken to Bronson Hospital for evaluation as she is 34 weeks along in her pregnancy.

The couple’s 4-year-old daughter was riding in the vehicle, but was not hurt.

Alcohol and drugs were not factors. Seat belts and a child restraint seat were being used at the time of the collision, the sheriff’s office reported.
