A father is accused of beating his children with a belt because they were ignoring him.

South Bend Police responded to a report of potential child abuse on Bow Court on October 27. Court documents say the responding officer spoke with the mother of the three kids, aged 9, 9 and 7.

The children had called her wanting to go home, and had evidence of being hit with a belt. The father, Donta Magee, allegedly struck all three of them with a belt and choked one of them, according to reports.

They were interviewed and one of the 9 year-olds told officials that their father was drunk when he became angry with them for watching TV and ignoring him.

Charges were filed in November and he was arrested on February 18.

Magee faces three counts of battery and other charges.
