Indiana Senate panel supports bill without big tax cuts

(Public Domain)

An Indiana Senate panel is supporting a bill without a big tax-cut proposal.

On Tuesday, the committee endorsed the proposal, minus a package of business and individual tax cuts that potentially totaled more than a billion dollars. That version was approved by the House in January.

A vote in the full Senate is expected next week.

GOP leaders there say uncertainty about the economy has led them to resist tax cuts despite big growth in state tax collections. Negotiations about the budget are expected in the final weeks of the legislative session.
