The search is on for an Indianapolis man who fell through the ice on Lake Michigan at Indiana Dunes National Park.

The Indiana DNR called in the help of the U.S. Coast Guard late Monday night after they got a report of someone having fallen through an ice shelf.

The DNR says they think the man and four other people were climbing on shelf. When the ice started to crack beneath them they started back towards shore.

On their way back they say the man fell through and they were not able to save him.
