Male killed in shooting at Lafayette & Monroe in South Bend

One person was killed in an apparent shooting in downtown South Bend.

Just after 2:30 am on Saturday, Feb. 26, South Bend Police officers were called to the area of Lafayette and Monroe on the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 38 year-old Anthony Long.

The South Bend Police Violent Crimes Unit is handling the investigation and several people have already been interviewed. An autopsy is planned for today in Kalamazoo.
