Fentanyl-laced drug overdoses spreading in Elkhart County

Authorities are warning the public about fentanyl-laced drugs after a number of recent overdoses in the area.

A warning from Elkhart Firefights Local 338 on social media said they have responded to a number of unintentional opioid overdoses and administered Narcan.

The Elkhart Truth reports that many of the ODs involved fentanyl-laced marijuana in the area, and they have been severe. The Department says they are concerned that customers aren’t aware of the fentanyl contamination, and that it’s extremely strong.

Authorities urge anyone who notices someone who they believe is experiencing an overdose to contact 911.
