Michigan City man arrested after crash into school bus

A Michigan City man has been arrested after crashing into the back of a school bus, then taking off.

The collision happened around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at the intersection of Orchard Drive and Wozniak Road.

Police talked to the Michigan City school bus driver who said the suspect driver pulled alongside the bus and briefly made contact, but fled after learning that the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office had been contacted.

Officers spotted the suspect SUV nearby.

Michael J. Adams, 50, of Michigan City was arrested for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash.

Adams was released after a cash bond was posted on his behalf.

There were approximately 30 passengers on the school bus at the time of the crash, but no report of any injuries.
