A Ligonier woman has been charged with identity deception after allegedly using a relative’s information to try to get some credit cards.

The investigation began in 2020 when police were called by the relative who received a letter declining a request for a card they never applied for.

The Elkhart Truth reports the woman said she noticed other credit card inquiries and applications in her name.

She led police to the suspect, Anne Marner, 45, who allegedly used the victim’s name, birthday and social security number five times, and also claimed the victim gave her permission to use her information.
