The United Way of St. Joseph County and the 525 Foundation have started a new drug takeback program to allow residents to safely dispose of drugs from their own homes.

The organizations are providing free bags of Deterra to participating homes, which when water is added are capable of neutralizing old and unwanted drugs safely.

It’s hoped that the effort will help fight opioid abuse in the county, including potential overdoses and addictions.

For more information or to order a Deterra bag to be delivered to your front door for free, call 574-232-8201 or 574-360-0462.
