Elkhart to host meeting to look for ways to deal with Canadian geese population

(Tom Franklin/95.3 MNC)

A meeting for ideas on how to try to manage the Canadian Geese population in the City of Elkhart is set for Tuesday night, March 29.

City leaders will talk about organizing what they call a “Wildlife Coexistence Plan.”

The meeting, which is set to start at 6:30 at Elkhart City Hall, at 229 South 2nd Street, comes after numerous complaints of the Canada Geese population obstructing public areas and roadways.

The goal of the meeting is to get input from the public about the problem areas where the geese tend to gather and any solutions residents may have.

It seems like any time the government sets up “special protections” for wildlife, those same wildlife turn into a public nuisance. Interestingly, the same thing applies when they set up special protections for some people.
