BSU Prof: Indiana economy slowing due to lack of college graduates

The Indiana economy is slowing down says Ball State economics professor Mike Hicks — and he says it’s because of a lack of college graduates.

Over the passed decade there has been a bigger push for more high school students to consider a career in the trades — such as plumbing.

Though Hicks says it’s a good thing to consider — only a small percentage of the job openings in Indiana last year were in the trades compared to far more jobs openings that require a college degree.

Hicks fears that the economy will suffer unless more Hoosiers go to college in order to fill these job openings.

People will move from out of State to fill jobs. They do not need to come just from Indiana graduates. PLUS many college degrees are worthless as far as filling needed jobs I graduated as an example from Ohio State but have worked here 30 years and have worked in 4 states and overseas

I wasn’t aware that most jobs in Indiana required anything from the current crop of worthless degrees being puked out by colleges these days. Do we need a lot of underwater basket weavers who appreciate ancient Vietnamese pottery?

Or maybe the economy is slowing because the ABSOLUTE MORON in the white house is one of the most economically illiterate partisan imbeciles ever to sit there, and his entire party of fools is just as dumb as he is? That’s far more likely.

old prof hicks teaches at testicle tech and does not seem to understand that “college degrees” don’t do squat for earning power unless you are going in to such illustrious carriers as underwater basket weaving and or political prostitution.

Also, a university professor says we need more college students to save our economy…or rather his economy.

Maybe if the schools and books and fees and food all of that makes school so absolutely out of possibility for the normal Indiana resident. You start off your life a hundred grand indent, get married the the couple is so far in debt they will be getting parent loans to send there kids to school and stealing your retirement to start your kids off in debt.
