South Bend Police were called to the 400 block of South Kaley Street on Tuesday night, April 19, to investigate possible sightings of the vehicle described in the statewide alert, according to South Bend Police.

On Wednesday afternoon, officials gave few details about the discovery of the vehicle and the ongoing investigation, but said the autopsy for Alexis Morales has been scheduled for Friday.

Her baby, Messiah Morales, is at an area hospital with family members according to Chief Scott Ruszkowski.

The two disappeared on April 12 after spending time at a South Bend park and the vehicle was reported Tuesday night.

Police say the crime scene being investigated is an alleyway in the 400 block of South Bendix.

The department says there is no truth to social media rumors that her vehicle was seen in the alley earlier this week and several interviews are taking place.

Chief Ruszkowski says the public has been very cooperative.

Anybody with information is asked to contact the South Bend Police Department Detective Bureau at 574-235-9263 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
