A man has been sentenced in Berrien County, bringing an end to a 35-year cold case murder.

Sixty-seven year-old Patrick Gilham is being sentenced to a minimum of 23 years, with a maximum of 50, meaning he will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Investigators concluded that Gilham broke into the home of Roxanne Wood, raped her, and killed her. He plead no contest to murder charges last month in the case and his sentence was handed down Monday morning.

Just six months before Wood’s death, Gilham had been released after serving seven years for another sexual assault.
