CDC expects more COVID cases late in the year

The pandemic isn’t over, and experts at the CDC are predicting millions of new cases in the second half of the year.

The CDC says the US should expect 100 million new COVID cases this fall and winter. Locally, numbers are on the rise and coronavirus transmission rates are high in St. Joseph County.

The Deputy Health Officer for the St. Joseph County Health Department, Mark Fox, says people should be respectful of others who choose to continue to wear a mask in public places.

More that 40 states have seen an increase in infections and hospitalizations, thanks in part to a sub variant of Omicron.
