Memorial services held Wednesday for the boy found inside a suitcase in Washington County.

The service was held at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem, Indiana. People from the community gathered together to pay their respects to the boy they now call “Angel.”

“We may never know the answer to all the ‘why’ questions that we ask ourselves,” says Sgt. Matt Hein with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department speaking at the service, “and that is frustrating, and it keeps many of us up at night – wondering about why. We’ve put on display the very best qualities of our community, as we think about, and honor, Angel. It makes me proud to live in this community, to serve it, and to protect it.”

Indiana State Police say the boy died from dehydration. They still don’t know his name. If you have any information that could help investigators, call the State Police Sellersburg Post.
