The mayor of Gary has order Playo’s night club temporarily closed because of a shooting where two people died there early Sunday.

The dead people were identified by the Lake County coroner as Jah’Nice Quinn, 26, of Merrillville, and Jonte Dorsey, 34, of Joliet, Illinois.

Neighbors said they heard what sounded to them like 30 to 40 shots. But, police have not confirmed how many shots were fired during the 2 a.m. incident.

“My biggest concern was just making it out and not getting shot,” said Cambri Shavon, who took video inside the club while shots were being fired. She was there to support a friend who was singing, but ended up fleeing for her life.

“There was a crowd that just started scurrying and then you heard shots,” she said. “I noticed there was a bullet hole in the passenger side of the vehicle I was driving. I’m just grateful. I’m just thankful.

At least four other people were hurt in the shooting.

Police have not announced arrests or info about possible shooters.
