Northwest Indiana steel production

Northwest Indiana produces steel. A tariff on imports of steel from foreign countries protects our own manufacturing. Congressman Frank Mrvan, Democrat representing Gary, Hammond, East Chicago and all of northwest Indiana, is supporting the continuation of that tariff.
“Indiana’s 1st Congressional District is home to an incredible foundation of steel workers and the American Steel Producers. We create products that are not just essential to the strength of our national economy, but also to our national security,” said Mrvan on the U.S. House floor.
It was under Section 232, the National Security Investigation of Steel Imports rule that Pres. Trump enacted a tariff on steel imports in 2018. Mrvan is advocating for that 25 percent tariff to remain in place.
“It is necessary that the American steel industry has a level playing field in our global economy, so that our innovative companies and skilled workforce can continue to lead the world in manufacturing the most environmentally friendly and efficiently-produced steel,” he said.
Mrvan said unfair trade and steel overcapacity negatively impact the country’s future.

Sorry Congressman Mrvan, your party hates the working class. Steel has carbon like in CO2, so naturally the Dems hate it and want to bankrupt the industry.

Want to save your steel jobs, NW Indiana? Start voting Republican.
