A two-year-old child reported missing in Elkhart County was found safe after hours of searching.
It was around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4, that sheriff’s deputies were notified of the missing toddler.
On arrival to the 30000 block of County Road 30, they learned that the child had been missing for around two hours before any call to police was made.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office drone team, along with Clay Township Fire’s drone team searched. A K-9 search and rescue team joined in, as well as Baugo, Harrison and Wakarusa Fire Departments and several volunteers.
Just before 11:30 p.m., the Indiana State Police helicopter joined in on the search and crews found the child laying between rows of corn in a field about a half-mile south of the boy’s home.
The child was in good health.
