A woman was injured after being shot in Elkhart while in her car.

It happened early Sunday morning, when police were called to the 100 block of East Lusher Avenue on reports of gunfire.

Witnesses said that the shooter was traveling toward Main Street.

ABC 57 News reports that a woman with a gunshot wound arrived at the hospital while officers were searching vehicles.

The victim told police she was in her car when she was shot by a man in a black SUV.

She was treated for non life threatening injuries.

The cause for the shooting has not been announced.
