ISP helicopter locates missing Elkhart County child on July 4

An Indiana State Police Helicopter located a missing child on Monday in Elkhart County.

The State Police says two police officials were on a routine air patrol on July 4th in Indianapolis when they received a call around 9:15 P.M. about a missing child in rural Elkhart County.

After refueling in South Bend they arrived in the area around 11 P.M. to join the search in a corn field that was considered an area of interest. Roughly 45 minutes later they decided to expand the search are and located the missing child east of the search parties.

The child was in good health despite being missing in high heat for several hours and returned home.
