Dowagiac is getting into the cannabis industry.

The Dowagiac City Council unanimously approved the Regulation of Marijuana Ordinance.

The ordinance says that the city will allow recreational marijuana businesses, as long as they follow state and local regulations.

Leader Publications reports that the businesses will also need a city permit and a license.

They are required to stay at least 1,000 feet away from schools.
