One person killed, four other hurt, in crash at Taylor and Ewing in South Bend

The St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is investigating a collision that claimed one life and injured four others.

It happened around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, at the intersection of South Taylor Street and West Ewing Avenue in South Bend.

The investigation shows a South Bend man was driving south on Taylor when he allegedly struck the passenger side of a second vehicle traveling westbound in the intersection.

58-year-old Janeth Gomez of South Bend, who was in the second car involved, was killed.

The four others, including two teenagers, suffered injuries ranging from a severe eye injury, facial injuries, a broken arm and a concussion.

Factors in the crash are still being investigated.
