Whitmer accused of pandering to voters with school supply tax move

The person challenging Gretchen Whitmer for the governor’s office says her office is pandering to the voters by calling for a freeze on school supply taxes.

Whitmer called for a pause in sales taxes on Tuesday before kids return to class this fall. Republican candidate Tudor Dixon and other GOP opponents of the governor are saying that’s “too little, too late.”

Dixon called it a gimmick to appeal to voters, noting school supply lists came out a month ago, and the shopping is done with many schools starting in just a few days.

Whitmer is trumpeting her work on the state’s $20 billion schools budget, and Dixon has made educational issues a priority of her campaign.

This is what happens when you elect politicians with zero real world experience. How quickly does she think the stores can change their databases to exempt all the different school supplies, if the store’s point-of-sale software can even exempt non-food items? Even if this had been started in June it might not be ready by now.

Whitmer is such a fraud…
