Sharing pictures of the 1st day of school could have a downside

The police are warning parents about the dangers of oversharing in their online back-to-school photos.

They warn that even the smallest of details in the photo can tip off a predator or scammer looking to steal an identity.

WSBT reports that an overshare of a young student’s big smile and stuffed backpack can give a number of clues. Some photos even have the student holding a sign with information like their school, teacher’s name, and the name of their best friend — all clues that can be used by dangerous people.

Kids are also guilty of oversharing, and parents need to take the lead in ensuring the privacy of their kids.
