elkhartpolice.org

The Elkhart Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning at the intersection of West Washington St. and North 2nd St.

Officers arrived to see a green Chrysler Town and Country on a lawn facing northwest and medics treating a woman who was inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The victim said she was in the drivers seat of her vehicle when it was struck on the back left side. She reported that the car that struck her drove off after the incident.

The victim was transported to the Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Elkhart Truth reports that another officer located a suspect vehicle, a black Chevrolet Impala, unoccupied at Sycamore Street and North Second Street. The vehicle was towed due to damage from the accident.

An additional report was made around 12:18 p.m. after a man discovered that his Chevrolet Impala was stolen the night before. The stolen vehicle was the one allegedly used in the hit-and-run earlier that morning.

The suspect is still unknown.
