Girl, 13, killed, five others hurt in crash on SR 5 in LaGrange County

A 13-year-old girl was killed and five others were hurt in a two-vehicle crash in LaGrange County..

The collision happened around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 16, on State Road 5 at the intersection of County Road 700 South when the driver of a Pontiac Bonneville alleged turned in front of a Ford Fusion.

The Pontiac was struck on the passenger side. ABC 57 News reports the 17-year-old driver of the Pontiac and three passengers were taken to the hospital for their injuries. 13-year-old Lybie Miller of Ligonier was then flown to a second hospital but died from her injuries.

The driver of the Ford and a 17-month-old passenger were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Sheriff’s investigators say both drivers and all the passengers, except for Miller, were buckled up.
