Man arrested of alleged burglary after DNA found on cigarette butt

A discarded cigarette but leads to the identity of a man accused of multiple burglaries.

Zachary Gadacz was arrested for burglary of multiple homes in South Bend.

The first report of a burglary was on July 20, at a home on State Road 2.

Police say that the door was kicked in, multiple items were stolen, and a cigarette butt was found at the scene.

A second robbery was reported on August 7, at a house on Johnson Road.

Items were missing and the door was kicked in again.

A home on Pear Road reported a burglary a few weeks later, on August 29.

ABC 57 News reports that two victims reported burglaries in progress on Grant Road, on August 31.

Gadacz was arrested on September 7, and admitted to some of the burglaries.

He is due in court on Wednesday, September 21.
