Not one, but two, house fires kept crews in Michigan City busy since Sunday night, Oct. 16.

One of the homes that caught fire was on Coolspring Avenue. The other was on Tennessee Street. There was extensive damage to both structures as well as damage to a neighboring house due to the extreme heat.

Fire crews credit smoke detectors for alerting a sleeping couple, who got out without injury.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury after falling off of a porch, but was able to continue fighting the fire.

There was extensive damage to both structures as well as damage to a neighboring house due to the extreme heat.
