A Michigan City man has been sentenced in U.S. District Court after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

It was back in November 2021, when police responded to an alert and recovered a handgun that had been possessed by Sergio Adams, 33.

At the time of this offense, Adams was on supervised release.

A search of Adams’ criminal history revealed he has three prior felony convictions, any one of which prohibit him from possessing a firearm or ammo.

His sentence calls for 52 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release.
