Thanksgiving is behind us, so here comes Santa Claus — and NORAD

There’s been a tradition since 1955 with the military in the US and Canada working together at NORAD to track the jolly old elf during his journey around the world.

It began with phone updates, and these days kids can track Santa on the website NORADSanta.org. The site goes live on December 1 with information about NORAD, tracking Santa, and more. It begins following Santa’s path as soon as he shows up on radar Christmas Eve.

The phone line is still there, running for 23 hours on Christmas Eve. Last year the call center received more than 53,000 calls. You can call 1-877-446-6723 (1-877-HI-NORAD).
