A weather rebound is in the works for next week. But first, Michiana residents will suffer through the holiday blizzard along with millions of other Americans.
Temperatures made it to the low single digits on Friday afternoon, though with wind chills remained as low as the negative 20s.
The story on Friday wasn’t so much the snow totals, as it was the high wind gusts topping 50 miles per hour. Lake-effect now will continue to accumulate weekend. The winds will also contine to blow, resulting in more drifting snow and possible whiteout conditions at times which, in turn, will lead to dangerous driving conditions.
The blizzard warning will expire Saturday, Dec. 24, at 1 p.m.
Lake effect snow continues all the way into Sunday morning. Wind chills stay below zero Saturday and Sunday. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are possible Saturday then 25 mph Sunday.
Wind begins to calm by Monday. Temperatures begin to warm a little each day next week. Temperatures reaching 50 degrees are possible by New Year’s weekend.
