Three people hospitalized after two different fires in South Bend

The South Bend Fire Department responded to two residential structure fires last night and early this morning.

The first fire occurred at 510 S. Saint Joseph Street around 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control on the third floor of a multi-unit house.

One female resident was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The second fire was located at 4024 Addison Street and was dispatched around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5.

Firefighters arrived on scene to a fully involved structure fire.

Two female occupants escaped the home with the assistance of a South Bend Police Officer.

Both patients were transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Crews operated in a defensive strategy due to the fire conditions.

Fourteen units were on scene along with support staff.

No reported injuries to firefighters.

The origin and cause are currently under investigation, any updates will be released
at a later date.
