The St. Joseph County Police Department is taking applications for corrections officers.
The gig isn’t for the faint of heart. The job description says the noise level in the work environment is  very loud and employees may be subjected to profanity, physical and verbal abuse, but are required to maintain a calm, professional manner even when subjected to extremely confusing and disorganized situations.
The starting salary is more than $41,000.
Qualified individuals are 18 or older, need a final high school transcript or college degree, driver’s license, birth certificate and social security card. You’ll also be subject to a background check.
