You may remember Lauren Spierer, a girl who went missing in 2011 and has never been found.
Spierer was still a student at Indiana University when she vanished. She had been partying, spending time with her friends. Then, in the early hours of the morning, she disappeared.
In honor of the girl’s birthday, her mother posted a message to Facebook Tuesday. The account – Official Lauren Spierer Updates from Her Family – is used by the family to reach out to followers and keep their loved one’s memory alive.
The Facebook post made it clear that Lauren Spierer is missed every day by her mother and the rest of her family. Her mother also noted her continued sadness and frustration with her loss and accompanying lack of answers.
She wrote, “You are always in my thoughts and in my heart. Maybe next year will be different. Maybe next year justice will walk hand in hand with you in place of evil.”
Tuesday marked Spierer’s 32nd birthday.
