A Valparaiso man has been arrested after leading LaPorte County Police on a high speed chase.

Deputies tried to pull over the suspect driver around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, in the area of U.S. 35, after seeing a vehicle traveling around 75 to 80 miles per hour.

However, they say the driver, Brett Steel, 23, failed to stop. Steel led a chase that navigated through six different roads before stopping near the intersection of Shebel Road and County Road 20 North.

Officials removed Steel from the vehicle, placed him under arrest, and took him to the LaPorte County Jail.

Steel faces charges of allegedly resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana.
