Solar panels are continuing to be put into place South Bend.

It’s their second year of the Energy Assistance Solar Savings Initiative, which helps local nonprofits, schools, and other community organizations install solar panels.

The program provides community organizations with a free energy assessment, matching grant funding up to $30,000 for sustainability projects, and optional low interest lending.

The program helped 17 organizations in the first year, along with solar and energy efficiency projects.

Organizations that took part in the program in 2022 can apply for funding again.

Applications for the program are due by Friday, Feb. 24.
