Dowagiac man given mental health probation

A Dowagiac man was given probation in mental health court after pleading guilty to domestic violence.

Leader Publications reports that It happened in Oct. 2020 and May of last year.

42-year-old Peter Starrett Sr. allegedly tried to intimidate the victim to not testify.

Starrett’s defense attorney said that Starrett needed to have proper medication for his mental health problems.

The judge agreed and said that even though Starrett’s record goes back to when he was younger.

He has had 17 felonies and 23 misdemeanors. He will have be issued into a rehab program.

I am happy and thankful for Peter Starrett Sr got mental health probation he doesn’t need to go to prison I agree with his lawyer.
