Man arrested for alleged possession of a machine gun

A man was arrested Thursday for the alleged possession of a machine gun.

South Bend Police were called to a residence on Laurel Street shortly before 6 AM and found a man shattering the windows of a vehicle with a tire iron. Tavaryous Kinds, 21, admitted to the vandalism and was detained.

During the investigation officers discovered suspected marijuana and a firearm that was reported stolen from another county.

Kinds was booked for charges of possession of a machine gun and criminal mischief.
