The City of South Bend is trying to put the brakes on a speeding problem.
More than 300 requests have come in to the city concerning speeding in neighborhoods around South Bend.
Thursday night a public works presentation was standing room only as a plan was laid out for “traffic calming” on 40 neighborhood streets. The city is also looking to increase the number of speed humps.
Two more meetings are planned for this week: Tuesday at Howard Park, and Thursday in the Near Northwest Neighborhood.
The city is looking to begin construction related to possible changes in May.
