Aleeyah Cockburn found safe, Silver Alert canceled

UPDATE: On February 17, 2023 at approximately 6:52 p.m. Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies confirmed that Aleeyah Cockburn had been located and was safe.

ORIGINAL STORY: A statewide Silver Alert has been issued for a 12-year-old girl reported missing from Middlebury.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of Aleeyah Cockburn. She’s described as white, 4 feet 11 inches tall, 80 pounds, black hair with green eyes, last seen wearing a black beanie, multi-color gray and pink jacket, blue jeans and black boots.

Aleeyah was last seen on Feb. 10, 2023 at 9:54 pm in a wooded area. The sheriff’s office was called to the 53000 block of State Road 13 at that time to investigate. It was reported to them that that Aleeya had left her home without permission.

Throughout the weekend, additional information was provided by the family determining the need for a Silver Alert to be issued.
