Suspect appears in court after allegedly holding knife to woman’s neck

A man was who police say held a knife to a woman’s neck at the Kroger store on Hively Avenue in Elkhart appeared in court for a pre-trial conference on Thursday.
It happened during a parking lot robbery attempt in mid-January.
Police say Charles Miller, 34, entered the backseat of the victim’s vehicle as she returned to her car with her daughter.
A struggle ensued and Miller ended up getting out of the vehicle and took her Coach purse, wallets, an iPhone cash and some silver rings.
He took off, but was later taken into custody and arrested on a charge of robbery with a deadly weapon. Miller’s jury trial is set for August.
