Elkhart man found guilty of killing roommate sentenced to 83 years in prison

It’s 83 years in prison for an Elkhart man who was found guilty in the shooting death of his roommate.

31 year-old Dustin McKee was found guilty of killing 38-year-old Brandon Lowe in their Elkhart apartment in August of 2021.

McKee called 911 to report the shooting. According to court documents the two got into an argument and McKee shot Lowe because he said Lowe wouldn’t stop harassing him.

McKee was sentenced for murder and for unlawful possession of a handgun.

McKee indicated he plans to appeal the sentence.
